The Opportunity
BuidlingSearch.com (San Jose, California) was looking at new ways of generating revenue by aligning with partners to sell/lease commercial property or space. Once they identified their models, they needed a designer to create the deliverables and make it look sharp. For that, they turned to me to make it happen and get the initial prototype done. The creative design work would establish a design direction for subsequent branding and design initiatives.

The Partnership
One of the first projects was a presentation sales kit that would hold brochures (as shown) and other printed sales collateral generated in-house. This would be a co-branded, turnkey office solution. The prototype was launched with Grubb & Ellis, a commercial real estate services company out of San Francisco, and ALUR modular glass wall systems. BuildingSearch would provide the property search technology on the backend.
Other parts of this phase included creating mockups of partner landing pages and microsites. Once designed, they were handed off to the development team to build out. The design and aesthetics of these smaller pieces would eventually drive the greater overall design direction as they slowly overhauled the entire B2B/B2C site to create a better brand and user experience.
Design is a continual process of refinement. So an additional project thrown in was modifying their old BuildingSearch.com logo, but keeping the original integrity and look-n-feel.
The Result
For a business model and services as massive as BuildingSearch.com, it is no easy feat to maintain and market its position against all the other search engines out there. My time with the client provided a solid design direction base and working templates with which the company could move forward.
